Essential oil is extracted by water distillation. Fresh or dried aromatic plant raw materials are put into the distiller, which is then heated and sent into steam to evaporate the plant essential oil. After the steam containing essential oil is collected and cooled through a conduit, the steam will be cooled into a liquid, and then separated according to the difference of specific gravity and density between the water and essential oil. Among the remaining water, some essential oils are more or less dissolved in it, which is the so-called flower water. Most of the essential oils are extracted in this way.
